1) Fatigue:
Sprinting, jumping, or taking damage in any other way makes you hungry rapidly. Hunger can become itchy when you need a lot of food for staying on your feet.

2) Digging cautiously:
Digging in Minecraft presents quite a bit of danger, so mine safely to avoid falling when going straight down and falling sand and gravel or flowing lava when digging upward.

3) Cooking:
Cooking can be done with coal or any other flammable material. Here are more optimal materials to use: wooden plank, blaze rod, and lava bucket.

4) Obsidian:
Use a bucket to place some still lava in the location where you want to place the obsidian, and then sprinkle water over the lava to harden it. A cobblestone or another nonflammable block to form the “mold” for the portal and to make the container for the lava.

5) Mining smartly:
Thick ores like redstone and diamond are apparaently in the underground, but they’re statistically common about 10 blocks above the bedrock layer. However, this spot is also abundant in lava, which you can avoid by remaining 11 blocks above bedrock.
