Sony is never enthusiastic about cross-play as their motto seems to be that everyone should be playing on the PlayStation 4 and they don’t want to even acknowledge the existence of rivals.

But their position has slowly changed over time, with games such as Fortnite and Rocket League allowing for crossplay. Now, Minecraft is also part of this ironically exclusive club. Of course, the obstacle in this one was the owners being Microsoft, but leaked images of a new retail edition called Minecraft Bedrock Edition suggest Sony has blinked first.

Several fans have posted pictures of the box, which is supposedly in stores now, ready to be put up on shelves, and it clearly describes what’s required for crossplay to work.

If this turns out to be true, then from this week players will be able to enjoy Minecraft together with friends regardless of their platform.
