1) Digging carefully:
Underground digging in Minecraft presents quite a bit of danger, so mine safely to avoid falling when digging straight down and falling sand and gravel or flowing lava when digging upward.
2) Cooking resources:
Cooking can be done with coal or any other hot or flammable material. Here are the optimal materials to use: coal, wooden plank, blaze rod, and lava bucket.
Use a bucket to place some still lava in the location where you want to place the obsidian, and then pour water over the lava to harden it. A cobblestone or another nonflammable block to form the “mold” for the portal and to create the container for the lava.
4) Mining smartly:
Thick ores like redstone and diamond are apparaently deep underground, but they’re statistically common about 10 blocks above the bedrock layer. However, this spot is also abundant in lava, which you can dodge by remaining 11 blocks above bedrock.
5) Watch out for fatigue:
Sprinting, jumping, or suffering damage in any other way makes you hungry rapidly. Hunger can become irritating when you need a lot of food for staying on your feet.
